Car repair shop

Have you ever been to a car repair building before? They feel like doctors office's which makes sense because they are a lot like car doctors offices I guess.

Well I went with Judy to a car repair shop today because her car had to be brought in to get the engine changed before she moves to Pensylvania sometime soon. I was not that interested in going because I was watching an episode of a strange show I found on Netflix called MAD MEN. It is about a girl finding a job as a secretary in the 1970s. Judy begged me to come and told me the car place has free cookies so I agreed to go and i brought my smartphone.

On the way to the shop her car seemed just fine and I can't exacty understand why she needed to get her engine changed since it was running so good. I don't know a lot of things about the inner workings of cars so maybe Im just not an expert.

We couldn't drive away once we got there and the procedure took about 3 hours so there was a lot of time to kill and the cookies were kind of stale. I also drank some skim milk from the coffee station they had near the cookies but it was warm and unsatisfying.

Judy started to fall asleep at a point and I downloaded a game for my smartphone that is called AR GHOST or something. I think the AR stands for the name of the game maker, maybe something like Adam Roberts I guess? But the game was weird because it just lets me take photos of my surroundings and when they show up they have ghosts in them. Some photos don't have ghoss and some do. I am not sure how it works and I wouldn't call it fun exactly.

Judy had to pay like 500 dollars to get her car fixed which seemed like a lot! At least they washed it too.

  1. I agree with you, Peter. There is a similarity between the doctors and mechanics. Both are trained to be careful and methodical with their work, being attentive to the slightest details and reacting properly to what they see on the fly. Both take a very sharp eye and an even sharper ability to determine even the smallest problems right away.

  2. A visit to the car repair shop can be quite boring. Particularly if the repair takes a long time. But if you think from the car’s perspective, it’s just the right amount of time for maintenance people to inspect and repair the car properly. Anyway, it was a good thing that you brought your smartphone with you, and that they have coffee and cookies in there. Somehow, these provided a much-needed distraction while waiting for the repairs to finish.

  3. If the engine was running good why, would she need the engine changed? It seems you are a really good friend to go and wait over three hours for the car to be fixed. I've never hear of a car repair place serving milk, that's kind of odd. Anyway, 500 dollars to fix it seems really expensive.
